Track time with the PaySuiteTT Time Tracker

Install the Time Tracker and time your work on projects from your computer. 2 minutes.

0:00 / 1:31

The Time Tracker runs on a Mac, on Windows and on Linux (Ubuntu 24.04 or later). On a phone, use Work Sessions in PaySuiteTT instead.

Before you start

You need your own PaySuiteTT sign-in. Open the invite your employer sent you and set up your account. If Tracker App isn't in your menu, your employer doesn't offer the tracker yet: use Work Sessions instead.

Download the tracker

  1. On your computer, sign in to PaySuiteTT and open Tracker App.
  2. Under Download, press Download under macOS, Windows or Linux (Ubuntu).
  3. Open the file you downloaded and install PaySuiteTT Time Tracker. Your computer may warn you before it opens: the Install step under Set it up says what to choose.

  1. Open PaySuiteTT Time Tracker.
  2. Type your Email and Password and press Sign in.

If you sign in to PaySuiteTT with Google or Apple, press Continue with Google or Continue with Apple instead. Your browser opens: finish signing in there, and you come back to the tracker.

Choose your work

  1. Open Project and choose a project. Projects are listed under their client, and you can search for a project or client. If you're allowed to add projects, New project… at the end of the list adds one.
  2. If you like, type what you're doing in What are you working on?

Start timer works once you've chosen a project.

Start, pause and stop the timer

  • Press Start timer. The clock counts up, with the project and client under it. You can still change What are you working on? while it runs.
  • Press Pause for a break, and Resume when you're back.
  • When your computer sleeps or its screen locks, the timer pauses and the tracker shows Timer paused. Press Resume when you're back, or Not now to leave it paused: a reminder with Resume stays in the tracker. If your business pauses timers when the computer is idle, idle time pauses it too.
  • Press Stop when you finish. If you didn't say what you were working on, the tracker asks What did you work on? Type it and press Stop timer. To keep the timer running instead, press Keep tracking.

Your time then shows in Work Sessions, waiting for your manager to approve it.

Agree to screen captures, when asked

Your business may take screen captures while you track time on certain projects. The first time you start one of those projects, the tracker asks you to agree to screen captures. Press I agree to start the timer, or Cancel to go back.

On a Mac, allow PaySuiteTT Time Tracker to record your screen when the Mac asks, then reopen the tracker. If the tracker says "Allow PaySuiteTT Time Tracker to record your screen, then try again.", press Open settings, allow it there and press Try again.

Each time your screen is captured, the tracker plays a shutter sound and shows a small preview. To see your captures, open Screenshots in your PaySuiteTT menu.

Your account menu

Press the button with your initials at the top of the tracker. It shows your name, email and business, with:

  • Open PaySuiteTT, to open PaySuiteTT in your browser.
  • Privacy policy.
  • Screenshot sound: move the slider to set how loud the shutter is on this computer, and press the speaker to hear it.
  • Sign out.

The tracker's version is at the foot of the menu.

Use the tracker's icon and the widget

The tracker's icon sits at the top right of the screen on a Mac, and by the clock on Windows. The widget is a small window that stays in view while you work.

The icon's menu has:

  • Open PaySuiteTT Time Tracker, to bring back the window.
  • Show or hide the widget.
  • Start timer, Pause timer, Resume timer or Stop timer, whichever fits your timer.
  • Sign out, when no timer is running, and Quit.

The widget shows the time and the client and project, with Pause (or Resume), Stop and Open. Its hide button puts it away.

On a phone, use Work Sessions

  1. Sign in to PaySuiteTT on your phone and press Sessions on the bottom bar.
  2. In the timer bar at the top, type what you're working on in What are you working on?, press Project to choose one, and press Start.
  3. Press Stop in the timer bar when you finish.

If you see "Track your time on a computer. Your organization doesn't allow tracking from phones.", use the Time Tracker on a computer.

Good to know

  • Quitting the tracker pauses your timer.
  • A timer that runs 24 hours without a pause stops by itself, and your manager is told.
  • If your internet drops, the tracker keeps your time and sends it when you're back online.
